Tongue Twisters

As a little kid I remember having trouble saying a couple of words, as do most. One in particular comes to mind....spaghetti. For some reason it would always come out as pasghetti no matter how hard I tried. I think I remember this one the most because my older brother would constantly make me say it over and over again just so he could hear me say it wrong. Nice huh? Well, tonight for dinner I made hangabers. You may know it better as hamburgers. I must admit, I just think it is so stinkin' cute when Kyle says that, it makes me want to make hangabers every night. Another one that makes me chuckle is asslepauce. Yep, applesauce. He says apple fine. He says sauce fine. But when you put it together it just comes out asslepauce. So, I guess my brother wasn't exactly making fun of me, he just thought his baby sister was so stinkin' cute (at least that's what I tell myself) :)

Almost Spring

After a day like today, you know Spring is on its way. Yippee! We went and played outside this afternoon for a few hours today. Kyle rode his tractor (FAST according to him), Ryan took a few laps on his ATV, we played on the swings, took the bikes out for a ride and finished off with a wagon ride around the neighborhood. Sounds like a good day for two little boys, if you ask me. I decided to break out the camera and see if I could get some shots of Ryan for once. He doesn't sit stil for very long, so he's a tough one to capture. Here are some of my favorites.

And one for big brother, of course...

My kids and I

So, I got this idea from a friend of mine (Thanks A). She's doing 52 weeks of her and her kids where she posts a picture of them together each week. Since I'm always the one behind the camera, you may wonder from time to time if I really do exist. I wonder the same thing when I look through all the pictures we have. I was actually going to start this last week, but to be honest the picture pretty much sucked. I looked like crap since it was the end of the day, my kids had already eaten their icecream (no bribe left) so they weren't that into it. So, we'll start now. No more excuses and no promises they'll be good. I'm a little late for the 52 weeks, being it's mid February already, so we'll count it down starting with 45 weeks. So, here it is.... 45 weeks and counting: My kids and I.

Happy Valentines Day!

We took a trip up to Nana and G-daddy's for Valentine's Day weekend! The intent was to have a snowy adventure, however, due to the unusually warm spell that swept across the East coast the week before, there wasn't a single flake left! They haven't seen the ground since November and of course the one chance we get to make the trek up North, it's all gone! Just our luck. This happens to us in the summer too, we'll hit the one rainy weekend in June or the unusually chilly day in August! Anyway, in an attempt to play in some snow, we took Kyle over to the ski resort on Friday to see if maybe we could go snow tubing. He wasn't exactly tall enough, but they let him slide by (no punn intended)! We had SO much fun. For the kid that likes speed, this was right up his alley. Check out the video below to see what a ride it was......

Here are some pics too.

On Saturday, Valentine's Day, Nana and Kyle did a little baking and made some yummy heart shaped cookies with sprinkles....... a lot of sprinkles.

Here are the boys in their Valentine's t-shirts. How cute are they?

Later in the day, the boys opened their gifts. In addition to the traditional candy, Kyle was a lucky boy and got his very first Transformer. He was so excited. When he asked Daddy to tranform it, well......let's just say you'd think our Mechanical Engineering Degrees would be somewhat overqualifying...not the case. Here's Daddy giving it a shot without the directions.

And then of course Mommy took the directions and gave it a shot, thinking she would whip that thing right into shape. Seriously, do you see the directions? The age on the box says 5+, are you kidding me?

I just hope we don't lose the directions or we're screwed! For those of you that don't know, G-daddy is an avid collector of old Lionel trains. So, he took Kyle up to the train room to play. Kyle thought that was the neatest thing. G-daddy even collected a few just for Kyle..... his very own trains. Choo! Choo!

And here's Ryan just having a good time running around.

Believe it or not our wish came true. It snowed most of the day Saturday, although lightly, it was enough to go play in on Sunday morning. So, we took out the sled and built the best snowman we could. As you can see Ryan wasn't such a big fan of the ride down the hill, but in his defense, it was nap time and this pretty much just sent him over the edge :)

Thanks for such a fun weekend!

Presidents' Day

Being a stay-at-home-mom, it's sad to say that I usually don't remember such holidays until I go get the mail or try to go to the bank. Today was different though, it was my 3 1/2 year old that reminded me this time as he told me, completely out of the blue, that Barack Obama was president of our country. Now, I had tried to explain to him during the inauguration that we had a new President and his name was President Obama, but I was pretty sure I wasn't making any sense to him and I don't ever remember telling him his first name was Barack. Then I remembered when I picked him up from school today, that the teacher told me they had made log cabins and learned about Abraham Lincoln. Now it's clicking. It's Presidents' Day. Hey, one thing I know for sure is that my kid was listening at school today :)

A Beautiful Day

Gosh, you couldn't ask for a nicer day in early February, even around here. I think it hit 70 degrees today. Talk about Spring fever. Anyway, we couldn't let such a beautiful day go by without a walk to get some icecream! So, we loaded up the boys and off we went.

I think everyone had the same idea because there was quite a line when we got there. No biggie, that gave us plenty of time to decide what we wanted. Kyle, of course, chose the bright blue cotton candy flavor and added some sprinkles and an oreo to top it off. He scarfed that icecream down so fast, we couldn't believe it. Ryan actally got his first tasty treat today. No, not icecream (we're still on the gluten-free, dairy-free diet at the moment), but sorbet. How sophisticated of him. He had Pineapple-coconut, not exactly the number one choice for a 1 year old, but they didn't have much to choose from. He did like it though......after a few funny faces :)

Hard to believe we had all that snow just last week! I say bring on the warmer weather! I'm ready!

Back to Grammy and Papa's

Last weekend we took a trip to Grammy and Papa's so we could see Aunt Stacy and Uncle Marky (and Grammy and Papa too), who were visiting for the week. We don't get to see them too much, so we were so glad we could catch up with them for a few days. The kids had a ball, who doesn't love more attention? Unfortunately, they were both fighting colds, but they can still expell their share of energy, even when they're down. Hopefully we didn't wear Aunt Stacy and Uncle Marky out too much. When you have two rugrats running around.....sleeping until 10 is no longer an option :) Love you guys!

A Snowy Day

Yippee! Just when we thought our one shot at snow had passed us, this is what we woke up to this morning!

When Kyle got up this morning, I told him to go look out the window and he said, "Wow, there's a bunch of snow in our backyard, just like Nana's!" Nana and G-daddy live up in snow country, so we've been prepping him for our trip up there in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, both kids are sick, so this isn't exactly what the doctor prescribed, but who could resist. What's 5 minutes, right? Here's a video of the boys......

And some pics.....

Ryan wasn't too sure what to make of it. I don't think he was digging the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man get up he was wearing. Oh well, Ryan got to see his first snow and Kyle got to play in the snow and really remember it this time! I guess the 20 minutes it took to get all that crap on was worth our 5 minutes of fun this morning! Time for some hot chocolate :)
