Two Little Race Fans

The boys absolutely love cars, especially race cars. Hmmm.....I wonder why? They LOVE the M&M's car. Again, I wonder why? Well, Daddy decided to take the boys to their very first race this past weekend. We told them on Friday that they were going to go to the race track and they immediately began running around the room shouting, "Hip, hip, hooray!" They were so excited! Daddy even brought them home M&M's t-shirts so they could be true fans. So, on Sunday afternoon Daddy headed to the track with his two little race fans in tow. They had a blast and I think Daddy had a great time too!

They didn't stay for the whole thing, but they lasted way longer than I thought they would. I couldn't sit through the entire thing myself if I had too, it's a long race. Afterwards, Daddy took them to McDonalds to get some ice cream. When they got there, Kyle told Daddy, " This is the best day ever, ever! We got to go to the race track and now we're getting ice cream too!" I'd say it was a pretty special day for all 3 boys :)

Drip, drip, drip...

That's what happens when you eat ice cream on a hot day! Ryan got his favorite, purple dinosaur. I think he actually got some in his mouth.

Kyle got strawberry, one of his favorites. Given that he's 4 years old, he managed to get a little more in his mouth :)

2 Months Old

Look at me, I'm 2 months old!

Katie is still growing like a weed! At her two month check-up she weighed in at 12.1 lbs, putting our little chunky monkey in the 90-95th percentile. Chunky means healthy in my book. Both boys were the same way! She measured 23 in., which puts her in the 75th percentile, so I'd say she's a pretty well proportioned little lady. She's started having a little fussy period in the evenings over the last month or so. She's happy all day when her mama is holding her (most of the time I don't mind too much, just when I need to get a couple of things done or when I need to intervene between her two brothers, which has been happening all too often lately.) Oh well, our house will be clean again someday and her brothers just have to learn to work things out :) After we make it through the fussy period, she's great for the rest of the night, so I'll keep the complaining to myself!

The boys still adore their little sister. Kyle calls her Cutie Katie and Ryan always refers to her as "My Katie." Nana even taught them a Katie song which they sing to her on a daily basis. It's an old song that dates back to 1918, so you're not going to find it in iTunes. I love hearing them sing it, especially Ryan. He actually can carry a tune, unlike his mother. Here are the words they're singing....

K-K-K-Katie, beautiful Katie,
I'll be waiting by the k-k-k-kitchen door.
When the moon shines over the cow shed,
I'll be waiting by the k-k-k-kitchen door.

Love that smile!

Katie just recently started smiling. Let me tell you, it just melts my heart! This is a girl that loves her baths, so I was able to capture one! Don't you just love it?

A Special Day

Sunday, May 9th, was a special day for us. Not only was Katie baptized on this day, but it was also Mother's Day. We had most of our family in town to help us celebrate (minus the Godparents, Mark and Stacy, who are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their own little bundle of joy). It was so great to have everyone here, we are truly blessed to have such a wonderful family.

Katie did so well during the ceremony, she slept through most of it :) She looked SO beautiful! The dress she is wearing is 67 years old and was made by my grandmother. It is just gorgeous. The best part was that my grandmother was able to see her in it. She is now the 10th family member to have worn it.

The beautiful headband was made by my mother. She made a blanket for Kyle, a vest for Ryan, and now a headband for Katie. All have been adorned with the lace and pearls from my wedding dress, so those pieces are extra special to me.

After the ceremony, the paparazzi showed up. No, seriously, they did. We had 6 cameras going at once. Notice everyone is looking in different directions in some of the photos. The other families having their children baptized were all wondering who we were, probably wondering if our photos would end up on the cover of Us Weekly Magazine next week. Katie wasn't exactly loving the photo shoot at this point, but she hung in there. Here are some pics of the family.

Our good friends and neighbors, John and Julie, who are a part of our extended family, stood in as the Godparents since Mark and Stacy couldn't be there.

As I mentioned earlier, my grandmother was in town, so with my mother, myself and Katie, that makes 4 generations :) Amazing!

And since it was Mother's Day, here I am, proud to be the mother of this family :) I love you all!

Brusha, Brusha, Brusha!

The other week I took the kids to the dentist. This was Ryan's first visit. He was so brave! Kyle went first, since he's an old hat at this now. Turns out that he has a loose tooth! So, looks like the tooth fairy will be paying him a little visit soon. After watching his big brother, Ryan took his turn in the chair and didn't mind a bit. I was a little surprised since 2 chairs over, the little girl was screaming her head off, but he was a trooper. I think he just could wait to dig his little hands in the prize drawer :)
