Look at me, I'm 3!

Happy 3rd birthday Kyle! Wow, has it been 3 years already? Last weekend we had his birthday party, bounce house and all. Kyle was so excited about the bounce house, he couldn't wait to get in and start jumping! The kids all had a blast.

This year he asked for a Madagascar cake. So, mommy went in search of an Alex, Melman, Marty, and Gloria to put on the cake. Let me tell you this wasn't easy since it's a fairly old movie and the new one doesn't come out until November. But, mommy came through and all of his buddies were there standing in icing wishing him a Happy Birthday.

Since all of the grandparents were in town, we celebrated again the next day. This lucky boy got so many wonderful presents from his friends and family. He now has a playroom full of new stuff. Kyle is always trying to fix things just like his Daddy, so we decided our little handy man should have his own set of tools. If you've got any home improvement projects, you know who to call!

On Monday we celebrated his "real" birthday and on Tuesday he celebrated at school. I hope he doesn't think birthdays turn into birthweeks every year! Happy Birthday buddy, we love you very much!

Banana magic

Lately, I've been working on introducing finger foods to Ryan. This kid would eat an entire box of Cheerios if I'd let him, so he does know how to eat. As for other foods, not too much interest. I've tried different fruits, carrots, sweet potatoes, cheese...all things he'll eat from a jar. Nothing. So, today I tried again with sweet potatoes and some ditalini. They say keep offering, so that's what I'm doing. He ate a couple of bites, gagged some, and was done. So, I decided to give him a few pieces of banana. You would have thought I turned on the vacuum. The kid cleared the tray. The bananas, sweet potatoes and ditalini were gone. No gagging either! What's up with that?

The planets have aligned.

The sea has parted. Actually, the cheeks have parted. Kyle finally pooped in the potty. Let me tell you, this is a big deal for us. Who would have thought that this would be the highlight of my week. We've been potty training for about 3 weeks now. He took to peeing on the potty after day 2, but doing the other business was another story. It's a scary thing for some kids, this one included. I'm so proud of him. He really has done great! Here is our big boy showing off his potty charts. Yes, incentives always work....lots of stickers, m&ms, and special prizes from mommy's special bag of tricks as he calls it :)

Show us those pearly whites!

Today Kyle had his 1st trip to the dentist. He did great! I think he actually had fun and would like to go back. He loved wearing the sunglasses and checking out all of the cool tools they use. Mr. Slurpy Straw was definitely his favorite. To top it off, he got a Mater toothbrush. Can't beat that!

1st Day of Preschool

Today was Kyle's 1st day of preschool. Wow, it's hard to believe that my baby is growing up so fast. I think it's going to be more of an adjustment for me. I'm a little sad that I don't get to be a part of all of the fun things he's doing, but I'm so happy that he's having such a great time, learning new things and making new friends. If only I could be a fly on the wall! Ok, I know I have to let him spread his wings (at least for a few hours anyway) and then my little bird can come right back to his mommy :)

Lucky for Kyle, two of his good buddies are also in his class. They all had a great time, so we finished off the day with a special trip to get icecream!
